(Unsolicited) Fitness Idea for Nintendo (or anyone else)
Wow it is has been forever since I have written here. I could say I've been too busy to write, but well, you know how that goes.
In any case, I have an idea that I think could help with fitness in the home.
First, it would require designing a new treadmill. Now, I know what you're thinking: "But Sean! There are a million different treadmills already on the market!" To that I say: stop exaggerating! Also, you're right; there are quite a few different models of treadmills already out there. What I'm thinking of is a minimal treadmill that could easily be slid under a couch, loveseat, bed, or recliner. Heck, make it small enough to fit under an old CRT TV. It should be just big enough, once expanded, to accommodate an average to above average person walking. I envision it being maybe 3-4 inches thick, about 2 feet wide, and only as long as necessary for a long stride (3 feet?).
This could then be combined with something fed into a TV or even a portable device. Since you would be effectively staying still either should work. I would bet Nintendo or Sony could make this work with their portable and standard home consoles for fitness games. Heck, maybe even a company like Withings could get into something like this treadmill and leave it up to the user to watch or read something as they may.
